Russian Nesting Doll set "Maša and the Bear", (set of 10 dolls)

Russian matryoshkas are world famous but only few knows its birth story. First set of matryoshkas were carved by Vasiliy Zvezdochkin and painted by Sergei Maliutin. It was year 1890. Ten years later Maliutins dolls were presented at the World Exhibition in Paris and those dolls won amazing bronze medal there.

Its also bearly known fact that Russian matryoshkas where inspired by suvenier dolls from Japan.

Largest doll sizes are 250 mm x 130 mm (10" x 5.2")
